Can Black Bananas Conquer the World? Yes, According to This Dutch TikTokker

Sometimes, fame hits you out of nowhere. Or so you would think. This happened one day for Bjorn, a 36-year-old from Arnhem, Netherlands who found fame on TikTok after boasting his Black Bananas outfit.

It was December 1st, an otherwise regular day in Bjorn’s life when he decided to post a video of himself and his “fresh new outfit” on TikTok. Soon after, views came flooding in. Now, the Dutch TikTokker has amassed over 402,000 views and 18,900 likes on his Black Bananas video, with many others quickly climbing to fame.

“I think it’s my quirkiness and originality that stands out and makes people want to come back for more,” Bjorn said. And, indeed, once you take a look at Bjorn’s profile it’s hard to look away. His videos all seem like advertisements for the brand, however, he insists there’s no connection between him and Black Bananas.

“I just like it a lot,” he says. “The style simply matches mine and I feel most comfortable when I wear Black Bananas. Maybe that’s the appeal. I don’t know, after all, that was the first video that brought me fame.”

In his everyday life, Bjorn — who got his username, @hutsakeee, from the Dutch song Huts — earns a living by creating websites and eCommerce shops. But his spontaneity and the fact that, every day, he wakes up with a smile, leave him yearning for more everyday.

“The truth is, I love to entertain people. When I see all the comments from other users on my TikTok videos, I feel like I truly make a difference. Bringing a smile onto people’s faces can do that to you.”

He says that his favorite video of his is specifically the one in which he presents his studio to his followers: “I give them a glimpse into my world. And, I’m happy to see that they respond.”

It’s true that the comments are all supportive as well. Fellow Dutch users flood to the comment section to express their enthusiasm about Bjorn’s work, which is quickly rising to the status of pop culture in the Netherlands. Given Bjorn’s philosophy, it’s noy surprising.

“I was inspired by fellow Dutch TikTokkers such as @quinnenaaron, whom I greatly admire. But at the same time, I wanted to bring something truly fresh to TikTok. I hope I was able to.”

With newfound fame in the Netherlands, Bjorn now gets recognised in the streets. “It happened the other day,” he said. “Some kids came up to me. It felt good!” But it’s not just kids that spot him.

Although it might seem like, in the long run, @hutsakeee could potentially conquer international audiences, Bjorn says that for now, his aspiration is that he creates engaging content and grows his follower base in the Netherlands.

“I hope the upwards trend will continue. Actually, I am confident it will.”
